Andhra Pradesh tops with 66 million cards, followed by Maharashtra with 63 million. But there is a large gap in
enrolment between the top two states and others on the list. Madhya Pradesh,
which ranks number three, issued 27.7 million Aadhaar numbers, followed by
Kerala (27.4 million).
RBI has allowed banks to accept Aadhaar cards as a valid KYC
document for opening a bank account. The e-KYC project, launched in Delhi in May 2013, is
UIDAI’s latest project.
